BMW Motorrad begins operations in India

Initially, the company will set up dealerships in Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle subsidiary of luxury German auto major BMW, has officially begun its operations in India.

Earlier, the firm was operating in the country with importers who had retail outlets in New Delhi and Mumbai.

“We see a tremendous potential in this country and we are pleased to introduce BMW Motorrad as a part of the Indian subsidiary of BMW Group,” said Dimitris Raptis, Head of Region - Asia, China, Pacific, South Africa, BMW Motorrad said in a release.

Presently, the two-wheeler arm of BMW is in the process of establishing a network of dealers and a team in India with Shivapada Ray already being appointed as the Head of the company.

Initially, the company will set up dealerships in the cities of Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.

The two-wheeler of luxury carmaker sells a wide range of premium motorcycles across various categories that include sports, roadster, tour, adventure and heritage.

In India, the company will sell bikes models such as BMW S 1000 R, BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1200 RT, BMW R 1200 RS, BMW R 1200 R, BMW K 1600 GTL, BMW R NineT Scrambler, BMW R NineT, BMW R 1200 GS, BMW S 1000 XR and BMW R 1200 G S Adventure.

These models of BMW will be available as CBU (Completely Built-up Units).
