Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft India to offer a package of telecom and information technology (IT) solutions for enterprise businesses, BSNL said in a statement. The MoU was signed by BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava and Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik on Thursday.

Indian state-owned telecom company has major portion of the business coming from the landline network. Its leased line network is connected to many business enterprises. As per the request for proposal (RFP) submitted by BSNL, this MoU has been signed to provide end-to-end IT solutions to business enterprise customers. Under the agreement, it will deliver various other IT allied services including software as a service (SaaS), cloud infrastructure and audio-video solutions.

According to the statement, Microsoft India Pvt Ltd is also interested in the RFP submitted by BSNL. The strategic partnership would remain non-exclusive. This MoU is aimed to garner more business as a front runner or a support associate to deliver telecom solutions and connectivity to the end user based on their needs and demands. The alliance would leverage the company’s domain expertise and strategic position in the industry.

The strategic MoU has been initiated without any commercial commitment at this point of time. The relevant business pacts will be signed on a case to case basis by the respective business verticals of the state-run telecom operator. After following certain guidelines, it would enter into bilateral or multilateral business agreements, BSNL said.
