CMR Group donates 23 acres land for airport project

Businessmen and farmers have come forward to hand over their land for the upcoming international airport at Bhogapuram.

Businessmen and farmers have come forward to voluntarily hand over their land for the upcoming international airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh.

CMR Group Chairman Mavuri Venkataramana has relinquished over 23 acres of land in Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh.

Venkataramana gave the land to the district collector. The airport will be developed by Bhogapuram International Airport Company Ltd (BIACL), said a press release issued by District Collector office.

Venkataramana also requested the farmers to come forward and give their lands to the district administration for the project.

The farmers in Kavuluwada village in the district have so far given away 23 acres of land. More farmers were willing for acquisition by the government. District collector Vivek Yadav assured the farmers that the government will clear the compensation package at the earliest, according to the release.

The collector also said that the state government has identified 136 unemployed youth across many villages such as Byreddypalem, Mollikalapelem, Mudasarlapeta, and Rellepeta for training them in various trades through district rural development agency to create employment opportunities for them.

In a recent meeting held in Mumbai the Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju had announced that India would get 50 new airports in the next three years out of which 10 are likely to become operational in the next one year alone.
