Concor opens port side container facility at Krishnapatnam Port

New facility will foster trade, boost industrial growth and aid in development of the region.

Krishnapatnam Port has opened a new port side container facility of the Concor (Container Corporation of India). The new facility will help in the growth and expansion of the container terminal at the port. This will support in keeping the quality intact of the cargo and also in efficient and safe transportation.

Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Railways, along with the Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the port side container facility, construction of a grade separator, crew running room at Krishnapatnam Port.

Concor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to start three Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLP), situated at Krishnapatnam, Vishakhapatnam and Kakinada.

Concor has continuous service of train to and from the Krishnapatnam Port. For establishing MMLP, the port has already sourced 140.58-acre land at Krishnapatnam. It is also planning to acquire an additional land of 24.03-acre. At Krishnapatnam, the construction work will start soon for the Phase-1.

Suresh Prabhu said that Concor is a crucial part of India’s Railways. Huge amount of imports and exports play a vital role in the economic development of the country. By taking proper measures for encouraging exports as well as imports will generously enhance the country’s GDP.

He further said that exports and imports contribute around 16-17 percent to the GDP and encouraging such activities would have a deep impact on India’s economy.

Anil Yendluri, CEO of Krishnapatnam Port said that the company is focused on offering best services to exporters and importers. With the help of Concor, the port will now be able to make sure quick turnaround, better smooth processing and smooth cargo throughput, thereby further boosting business relations with all the stakeholders.
