Reassuring the micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, Additional DGFT said on Monday that it is working to enhance the governance and transparency of services in a time-bound manner to boost exports.

DGFT team is working for improving the governance as well as transparency of services in a time-bound period to make certain that the exports will grow in the coming months,” said Sonia Sethi, Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, while speaking at an open house meeting, organised by the All India Association of Industries and World Trade Centre Mumbai.

She said, “My team is pulling up its socks on all issues faced by industry and the potential entrants in the MSME segment. The MSME clusters are our priority in export promotion.”

According to the new Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2015-2020, the country’s merchandise and service exports are targeted to increase from $465.9 billion to $900 billion by fiscal 2020, that is, increase in India’s share from 2% to 3.5% in world exports.

Sethi also gave assurance to exporters that she would soon arrange a meeting of the committee on trade disputes and quality complaints.

“There are lots of things to be done by us. Our efforts are to ease and resolve the difficulties that are faced by the exporters,” she said.

“A large portion of our system is currently online," she added.
