Digital India, Make in India launch pads for telecom exports: Minister

The Indian Telecom Industry is geared for innovation and global competition and can act as long-term technology partners for emerging market countries. There is a need to build long-term partnerships between overseas buyers and Indian companies, keeping in view the continuous technological changes happening in the telecom sector

 The Dollar Business Bureau Telecom exports “The Digital India, Make in India and Skill India programs provide an ideal platform for Indian companies to build a foundation for domestic success which can be used for exports,” said Ravi Shankar Prasad, The Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology. “India had proven its capabilities in the ICT Sector as a preferred destination for services and outsourced R&D,” he said on the side-lines of inaugurating the Buyer Seller Meet and added, “in the backdrop of large domestic demand for the telecom equipment’s in India, Indian companies are now using innovation and R&D to create world class products for India as well as for other emerging markets having similar needs.” He said that success in Indian market requires best technology, highest quality and affordable costs. The fact that buyers from Peru to Philippines and from Mexico to Malaysia participated in this event gives confidence that Indian products are gaining acceptance in the global markets. The government is fully committed to promoting manufacturing and exports of the telecom as a focus area, he added.  Rajiv Kher, Commerce Secretary said that the Telecom equipment is increasingly being differentiated by design and software in which India has very strong and proven capabilities for which the emerging markets of Africa, Latin America, SE Asia and CIS countries were the natural destination as far as exports are concerned, since they would have the highest growth potential in the coming years.
