Representatives of Chambers of Commerce in India and government Trade Promotion Councils are expected to be a part of the delegation. The identified sectors include: Agriculture and Food Processing; Pharmaceuticals; Information Technology; Renewable Energy; Mineral Resources & Mining Equipment; Consumer, Textiles, and Electronics; and Tourism. Business leaders from other sectors may also participate, said ISACCI. ISACCI added said that its partners in South America will facilitate B2B meetings with industry leaders of Argentina, Brazil and Chile, also known as ABC powers, which together represent around 60% of the total population of South America. However, India’s trade with the three countries remains low. India’s exports to the three countries stood at around $6.8 billion in FY2013-14 (about 2.1% of India's total exports in the year), while imports stood at around $7.6 billion (about 1.7% of India's total imports in the year). Apart from being rich in minerals and agriculture, the three South American countries have the potential to become reliable markets for Indian exports such as chemicals, textiles, automobiles and auto components in the coming years, said ISACCI. Adriel Dalgaard Knott, Secretary General, ISACCI, told The Dollar Business, "This delegation will prove to be immensely beneficial for businessmen. We are looking to create a bridge between India, specifically South India, and South America, for which this delegation is a perfect medium. We plan to provide Indian businessmen with the right counterparts to tie up with, for trade and investments."
