  As a part of its strategy to attract FDI from India, Japan has sought direct investment from Indian companies. And to promote direct investment Japan is ready to provide the Indian companies the much needed assistance. Its target is to reach $300 billion by 2020. The Invest Japan Seminar was organised in joint collaboration with FICCI as part of the Japan-India Internet of Things (IoT) Investment Initiative. "Japanese government targets FDI of nearly $300 billion from overseas by 2020. To promote direct investment into Japan, we will provide assistance to interested Indian companies," Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) President Shigeki Maeda told reporters here during the 'Invest Japan Seminar'. "We will also establish "India Desk" with Indian staff in our Tokyo HQ for Indian companies to ease consultation," Maeda added. "We are also planning to deploy sector based experts in our offices in India to support potential direct investment to Japan", Maeda said. Maeda opines that Japan welcomes Indian corporates, to look at it Japan as the new trade destination for hospitality, pharma and IT sectors. The Japan External Trade Organization has impressive numbers when it comes to having supported projects by diverse countries across the world - 12,000 projects, 1245 foreign companies, a good track record of 11 years, also 25 Indian companies already having their trade operations in Japan till date.
