Lumax Industries opens design centre in Taiwan

India’s automotive lighting solutions company Lumax Industries Limited has opened its state-of-the-art design centre in Taiwan to boost its design competencies. The new centre was inaugurated by D K Jain, the Group Chairman of Lumax Industries.

This is a strategic move towards the self-reliant initiatives of the company and will enable the company to offer at competitive designing cost. The new centre is a testimony to its healthy business partnership ties with Taiwan over a period of 36 years. The centre would act as a springboard for the company in running businesses with Japan, South Korea and Mainland China in the coming years.

Taiwan provides various benefits to the company that include strategic location, wide supply chain network, industrial clusters, good manufacturing technology, quality human resource, advanced R&D and management facilities. The company’s annual purchases from Taiwan's equipment suppliers stood at around 350 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately $11 million).

D K Jain said that the design centre at Taiwan will synergise the company’s efforts to follow good practices in manufacturing engineering products. The company will also be benefited from the high quality affordable tooling destination in making innovative products in Taiwan.

The new centre will accomplish the market needs of the company in providing lighting solutions. This will decrease the time in developing advanced technology products. It acts as an interface with global automotive lighting markets including China and Korea, he added.

As part of the company’s business strategy, it had recently set up a design studio at its Chakan plant in Pune.
