MP attracts Rs 5.63 lakh crore investment commitments

The two-day Global Investors Summit held in Indore witnessed the state of Madhya Pradesh received investment commitments worth Rs 5.63 lakh crore across different sectors, revealed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a press meet.

The investors gave a huge response during the summit with the state receiving more than 2,600 investment proposals. During the event, the Chief Minister also expressed his willingness to turn the state into the world’s best business destination by providing all the necessary support. He also talked about an upcoming portal which will provide the investors with all the required information apart from helping them get timely approvals for their investments.  

The CM said that the government has received 30 such proposals via the online mechanism and it plans to allot lands to the investors using the same.  

There were also talks about appointing a relationship manager for investment over Rs 50 crore along with liberalising the norms for ease of doing business. This will include amending the rules with respect to change in land use and charging a minimal fee for the same. This will be followed by the state promoting the readymade garments industry with a new policy on-board.

The climate will be further be made business-conducive by easing the process of getting clearances from the pollution control board on time.

The minister also shed light on the upcoming GST regime assuring the investors of facilitating state tax incentives even after the implementation of the new structure.  A committee has been formed to take note of the related concerns.

The participants at the summit voiced the need to build international airports in Bhopal and Indore with Chouhan urging the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to look into the matter.
