  Dr. Anup K. Pujari on Wednesday, assumed charge as new Secretary of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, informed MSME ministry. The new Secretary is an IAS officer of Karnataka cadre and has succeeded former MSME Secretary Madhav Lal, who retired on Monday. The officer of 1980 batch of IAS, was previously Secretary of the Ministry of Mines. He had a long tenure in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Director General Foreign Trade (DGFT) from 2010 to 2014. Earlier, Dr. Pujari served as Joint Secretary of Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and also as a Director of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. He served as Government Director of ICICI Bank Ltd. from January 27, 2009 to July 22, 2011. He also served as a Director of Punjab and Sind Bank from January 10, 2008 to January 27, 2009. Born in 1956, Pujari is a post-graduate from the University of Boston, and a Doctorate in Economics. He has served the Central and Karnataka Government in various capacities.
