After re-loading the smartphones with ‘Make for India’ features such as S bike mode and Ultra Data Saving (UDS) mode, Samsung India has now come up with new innovations – Turbo Speed Technology (TST), Smart Glow, and 7-inch WXGA display.

Samsung has around 48.3% share in Indian smartphone market. The company is focusing in further research and development (R&D) to deliver better technologies as part of ‘Make for India’ initiative. Other than South Korea, India is the only country where we have big R&D centres,” Manu Sharma, Vice President - Mobile Business, Samsung India told The Dollar Business Bureau. The South Korean smartphone maker has three R&D centres at Bengaluru, Noida and New Delhi.

Speaking about the importance of Indian market, he said, “India is the fourth largest app builder in the world. The country has seen 129% growth in mobile app downloads during CY 2015 over its previous year. The transformation to 4G from 2G has up surged over five times during the same period. More than 50% of the devices used are having screen size greater than five inches. The usage of such smartphones has increased around 60% in this one-year period.”

“Samsung always look for ways to enhance user experience. With the TST, Samsung engineers have redesigned the J-series smartphones to optimise the performance. It provides the users a lighter, smarter and faster experience. The innovative Smart Glow LED system indicates about the calls from important contacts and also alerts the user about the battery, data and storage. This notification system has a wide-range of utility benefits,” he said.

Sharma launched two new models - Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 priced at Rs.9750 and Galaxy J Max priced at Rs.13400 - in Hyderabad on Thursday. Both the handsets will be available in retail as well as online markets from this month-end. The devices come with a six-month 4G data offer, worth Rs.4500, from Airtel.

Galaxy J2 2016 has been re-engineered with ‘Make for India’ features – TST and Smart Glow, while Galaxy J Max has been designed with a 7-inch WXGA display and 4G VoLTE connectivity. TST allows 40% faster performance, Smart Glow offers a colour LED notification system, WXGA display gives an immersive viewing experience, and 4G VoLTE connectivity is meant for fast downloads and streaming.

Samsung India had earlier introduced the industry first S bike mode that lets two-wheeler riders receive urgent call alert notifications while riding. Another important feature was UDS mode which saves up to 50% mobile data by blocking unnecessary applications. It also ensures the most cost-efficient 4G experience.
