Slovenia asks Indian firms to invest, build business

Slovenia is an ideal investment platform for Indian companies due to its excellent infrastructure, skilled workforce

Slovenia invited Indian firms to invest and set up projects in the country, mentioning that it is an ideal destination for investment

"Slovenia is a perfect investment platform for Indian companies due to its excellent infrastructure, a well-educated workforce, and a strategic location between the Balkans and Western Europe," Jozef Drofenik, Ambassador of Slovenia to India, said on Wednesday while interacting with industry people at an event organised in Chandigarh.

Presenting Slovenia as an ideal investment destination for companies from India, Drofenik extended invitation to the industry from Chandigarh to invest, collaborate, partner and create business partnerships with its counterparts in Slovenia, and extended its full support.

"Slovenia has a number of small and medium-sized companies, having advanced technology and skilled workforce,” he said.

The country has signed a pact with Indian Air force for 100 advanced planes that can cover maximum distance in a single fuelling. It has one of the highest per capita GDPs (Gross Domestic Product) in Central Europe," he informed. 

While speaking at the event, Maja Segota, First Counsellor, Trade and Economic Affairs, Embassy of Slovenia in India, stated, “Investors, who want to build a customer network in the east and southeast region of Europe, can gain from increasing their business through Slovenia with the help of the country’s supportive environment, business-friendly infrastructure and tech-savvy workforce.”

Dinesh Dua, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Council, while talking on the bilateral trade between India and Slovenia, said, “The commercial and economic ties between India and Slovenia, mainly investment relationship, has grown in the last few years. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows from Slovenia to India from April 2000 to June 2015 was around $8.49 million, making the country the 79th most significant investor in India.”

The key sectors that saw maximum flows of funds from Slovenia include manufacturing, computer software & hardware, pharmaceutical products, electrical machinery, green technology and organic chemicals, Dua added.
