Verizon concludes the $4.5 bn takeover deal of Yahoo

The Dollar Business Bureau  Telecommunication conglomerate Verizon concluded the $4.5 billion deal of Yahoo’s takeover on Tuesday, ending the web company’s 21-year history as an independent entity. The deal also brings to an end the  5-year rule of Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer, who is not joining the new company. She will take a compensation package presently worth around $127 million that includes severance pay and stock awards which will be fully conferred with the completion of deal. The properties of Yahoo including its email, finance and Tumblr will be joined with AOL, which Verizon purchased in 2015. Nikkei PMI has positive news for Indian manufacturing and services

The Nikkei Purchasing Manager’s Index for Manufacturing and Services has positive news, both in performance and sentiments. What we now need is better capacity utilisation leading to improvement in private investment. A good monsoon this year should create that. Some indication of that is also seen in the performance of the infrastructure industries during the month of March. Govt extends services export period under SEIS upto Mar 31, 2017

The Dollar Business Bureau The government has extended the period of services export for rewards under the Services Exports from India Scheme (SEIS) upto March 31, 2017. Currently, the services and rates of rewards were applicable only for services exports made between April 1, 2015 and March 31 2016. “The earlier notified period of services export rendered between 1-4-2015 to 31-03-2016, as per the list comprising rates and conditions for rewards under the SEIS notified vide Public Notice No.3/2015-20 dated April 1, 2015 as amended vide Public Notice no.42/2015-20 dated 26.10.2015, is extended upto 31.03.2017,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification on Friday. Maggi row prompts traders to demand policy on brand endorsement

Himanshu Vatsa | The Dollar Business  The government must bring a separate policy with a set of guidelines for brand endorsement involving influential personalities as part of promotional campaigns of any product, a traders’ body has said. According to the Confederation of All Indian Traders (CAIT), the row over Nestle’s noodle— Maggi— has provided an opportunity for the government to formulate a stringent policy for brand endorsement. “When there is a mass scale of brand endorsement being done by celebrities, there should be a policy for brand ambassadors in the larger interest of consumers.
