Passengers in Qatar airways can now travel seamlessly to and from India, over 150 destinations on single ticket

The Dollar Business Bureau Qatar Airways and Vistara on Tuesday entered into an interline partnership, under which customers of the two carriers will have seamless travel to and from India to over 150 destinations. The partnership is effective from Monday, Qatar Airways said in a media release. The Gulf carrier currently operates to 13 cities in India from Doha while Vistara, the Tata-SIA run domestic carrier operates to 18 domestic destinations. An interline arrangement refers to a pact to issue and accept tickets for flights that are operated by the partner airline. When selling an interline ticket, the operating airline's own flight numbers are used. India will consider an open sky agreement for flights within 5,000 km: Oman Air

The Dollar Business Bureau India has plans to have an open sky agreement with the nations, which are within the radius of 5,000 km, said Oman Air Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paul Gregorowitsch on Thursday. Govt exempts duty on re-import of catering cabin equipment, food, drink by airlines

The Dollar Business Bureau The Government has exempted the whole of customs duty on the re-imports of catering cabin equipment, food and drink by the aircrafts of the Indian Airlines Corporation. Indian domestic air traffic in Mar 2017 grew slowest since Sept 2015

The Dollar Business Bureau As per the measure of revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), a unit used to measure passenger volume, International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that India’s domestic passenger traffic, during the month of March 2017, grew at the slowest rate since September 2015. “China overtakes India as the fastest growing domestic market,” the monthly report stated. Monthly air passenger market analysis report released by the international association, recorded a robust 7% first quarter global growth in passenger demand, which is well ahead of the long-run average of around 5.5%. However, the report cited the reasons for slow demand growth in India to be the ‘reduced cash supply’ and ‘wider economic uncertainty’. UK joins US airline electronics ban

PTI The UK today imposed a ban on carrying laptops as part of cabin baggage on Britain-bound passenger flights from six Muslim-majority countries, hours after US introduced a similar move citing terrorism concerns. The ban will cover around 14 airlines that operate direct flights from largely Muslim countries Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia. The UK restrictions also apply to tablets, DVD players and phones over certain size. "Direct flights to the UK from these destinations can continue to operate to the UK subject to new measures being in place. SpiceJet likely to place order for new aircrafts this fiscal

The Dollar Business Bureau  Optimistic about the growth prospects, low-cost airline SpiceJet said on Friday that it expects to conclude negotiations and put orders for new aircrafts in the current fiscal year ending in March.  The budget carrier, which has been in profit for seven quarters in a row after battling financial instability, is expected to be looking for about 100 aircrafts.  “For quite some time, the discussions are going on. Vistara plans 500 flights a week to 18 routes by year-end

The Dollar Business Bureau Gurgaon-based domestic carrier, Vistara said on Monday that it will grow its fleet to 13 Airbus A320 aircrafts and will operate 500 flights per week to around 18 destinations by the end of this year.
