Customs prohibits Red Sanders from being imported

The Dollar Business Bureau Red Sanders wood, an endangered species of flora protected under the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species(CITES) of Flora and Fauna, has been prohibited from being imported by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Earlier this wood was free to be brought into the country, but the government has through a notification specified that it has shifted imports of this wood from free to the prohibited category. AP to generate 2 lakh jobs in electronics and IT in 2 yrs

The Dollar Business Bureau  Andhra Pradesh will create about two lakh jobs in the field of electronics manufacturing and information technology (IT) sector in the coming two years, said the state’s IT minister Nara Lokesh. “In order to fulfil the target, the focus will be on manufacturing medical devices, in addition to the manufacturing of consumer durables and mobile phones” Lokesh, who is the son of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and holds the portfolio of Panchayati Raj said. AP, TN, Maha get timeline to complete red sanders export process

The Dollar Business Bureau  The Ministry of Commerce has set timelines for the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra to complete modalities and export procedure for Red Sanders wood.  Andhra Pradesh has been given time till April 30, 2019, whereas Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have been allowed till August 31, 2018, for finalising the modalities and completion of the export process of this wood.  “Time upto August 31, 2018 has been allowed to the governments of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to finalise the modalities and complete the process of export of respective allocated quantity of Red Sanders Wood,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a notification (No.08/2015-2020) issued on Tuesday.  Time till April 30, next year has ...

PTI The succulent Banganapalle mango has got a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, making Andhra Pradesh the proprietor of the variety know for its sweetness. The Registrar of Geographical Indications Registry, Chennai, O P Gupta has accorded the registration following an application from Horticulture Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh government is the registered proprietor of the GI tag for mangoes, often hailed as "the king of fruits."  A GI tag indicates that the product comes from a specific region. Kia Motors Corp. more likely to establish its unit in AP

The Dollar Business Bureau South Korea’s automobile manufacturer is in the final process of establishing its first company- Kia Motors Corp. in India. The decision will be made shortly once the location is finalised. The two preferred states that the company wishes to establish its manufacturing units are Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Maharashtra. According to the media communication released by the company, the new unit is likely to begin its operations either by the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019. AP grows at 10.99%, reaches GSDP of $100 bn in FY15-16

Daikin could set up a third manufacturing plant in India

PTI Keeping in view of the increasing demand, Japanese air conditioner maker Daikin has plans for setting up its third manufacturing plant in India and is evaluating various locations and options, a top company official said today. The company is in talks with Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments in this regard, however, any decision on setting up the third manufacturing unit is likely to be taken only after March 2018, Daikin Airconditioning India Managing Director Kanwal Jeet Jawa said here.
