India has become a net exporter of steel: Steel Minister

The Dollar Business Bureau Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh said on Thursday that the country has become a net exporter of steel, and the imports of the metal had come down by around 40-45%. “Following protective measures taken by the Government like the minimum import price (MIP) and anti-dumping duty, steelmakers had been posting better results. This has also helped India emerge as a net exporter of steel, and imports had come down by 40-45%,” Singh said while speaking at an interactive session organized by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce. DGAD discontinues ADD on imports of Phenyl and Methyl from China

The Dollar Business Bureau The Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has recommended discontinuation of anti-dumping duties on the imports of 1-Phenyl-3-Methyl-5-Pyrazolone from China, after finding that the imports are not causing material injury to the domestic industry. “The Authority, in its sunset review investigation, is of the view that continuation of anti-dumping duty, on the imports of 1-Phenyl-3-Methyl-5-Pyrazolone, originating in or exported from the China, is not required,” DGAD said in a notification (Sl. 86) dated August 9, 2017. “Having initiated and conducted the present review investigation into continued dumping, injury and causal link in terms of the Antidumping Rules, the Authority is of the view that the exports from the subject country are not causing material injury to the ...

India imposes anti-dumping duty on Iran, Qatar and China for chemical dumping

The Dollar Business Bureau India has imposed anti-dumping duty ranging between $23.78 to $300.22 on the imports of  Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) from China, Qatar and Iran. LAB is majorly used in the preparation of various detergents. A notice to the effect was issued by the DGAD  via Customs notification no.12/2017-CUSTOMS dated April 11, 2017, to protect the domestic players from the cheap dumping of the shipments. Two Indian companies, Nirma Ltd and Tamilnadu Petroproducts had jointly filed an application on 7th December, 2015 to the DGAD to investigate the cheap dumping of the chemical by various companies of Qatar, China and Iran. The Dollar Business Bureau  Directorate of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on the imports of amoxycillin from China PR in order to remove the impact of injury caused to domestic industry due to cheap imports. Amoxycillin, also known as Amoxicillin Trihydrate, is a semisynthetic antibiotic, an analog of ampicillin, with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms and is used to reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria. Domestic steel prices to feel limited pressure in next 12-18 months: Moodys

The Dollar Business Bureau Moody's Investors Service on Wednesday said the domestic steel prices are expected to experience limited global pressure over the next 12-18 months due to the government’s adequate protectionist measures such as safeguards and anti-dumping duties. "Nevertheless, with domestic steel prices lower than international prices and adequate protections in place in the form of safeguards and anti-dumping duties, Moody's anticipates limited pressure on steel prices over the next 12-18 months," Moody’s said in a statement. Moody's expects India's steel consumption be in the proximity of India’s projected GDP growth of 7.5% and 7.6% in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Govt may soon decide on duty protection for aluminium sector

PTI Government may soon come out with a decision on duty protection measure for the domestic aluminium sector which is facing dumping of products from countries like China. "We are working to provide safeguard duty protection for primary aluminium producers being hurt from dumping.
