Apple seeks changes in PMP for setting up unit in India

The Dollar Business Bureau  American tech giant Apple Inc has sought changes in the phased manufacturing programme (PMP) of the government as the iPhone maker plans to establish a manufacturing unit in India. The Ministry of Electronics and IT came out with the PMP with the objective to boost indigenous manufacturing of mobile phones by offering tax sops and other incentives on accessories and components used in the devices. This programme will be implemented over a period of time. “The department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) is looking at this. Apples iPhone SE local production to start this month

The Dollar Business Bureau US-based technology giant Apple Inc on Wednesday said it is starting initial production of iPhone SE in a ‘small number’ in Bengaluru and begin the shipping of its ‘Made in India’ phone to domestic consumers this month. “We are beginning initial production of a small number of iPhone SE in Bengaluru. iPhone SE is the most popular and  powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world and well begin shipping to domestic customers this month,” the company said. Apple may have to wait for GST rollout: Sitharaman

The Dollar Business Bureau  Minister of Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that the demands of the US tech-giant Apple regarding tax sops in order to establish a manufacturing facility in India will be looked into only after the roll out of the GST (Goods and Services Tax). “GST will be coming soon. Himachal's growth rate likely to be 6.8 pc in 2016-17: Survey

PTI  The growth rate of Himachal Pradesh is expected to be 6.8 per cent and per capita income likely to rise to Rs 1.47 lakh during 2016-17, as per the Economic Survey of the state. "The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is expected to increase from Rs 1,13,667 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 1,24,570 crore in 2016-17, while the growth rate under the 12th Plan (2012-17) has been estimated at 7.2 per cent," said the Economic Survey for the current financial year, presented by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in the Assembly today.
