Govt, ADB sign $48 mn loan to improve Assams power service

The Dollar Business Bureau The Government of India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Monday signed a loan of $48 million to help the state of Assam to maintain its drive for improving the access to reliable and efficient power in the national capital. The given loan is the second tranche of multi tranche financing facility of $300 million cleared by the ADB Board for Assam Power Sector Investment Program in July 2014. The Program will help the state to augment the efficiency and capacity of its power distribution system in order to improve electricity supply to end users, said an official statement. Patanjali to invest Rs. 1300 cr in Assam

The Dollar Business Bureau Patanjali Ayurved, the FMCG venture being promoted by Yoga guru Ramdev, will hire around 5000 people at its upcoming Rs 1,300-crore facility in Assam by the end of this fiscal year. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of the Patanjali Herbal and Mega Food Park at Balipara in Sonitpur district. Speaking to the media, Baba Ramdev said, "The unit will give direct employment to 5000 people and benefit one lakh farmers. The complete profit from the Food Park will be dedicated for the welfare of Assam by setting up school and skill development centres in each district.
