Mercedes recalls 1 mn cars worldwide due to a starter problem

The Dollar Business Bureau  Global auto major Mercedes is recalling around one million cars and SUVs from all over the world due to a starter part, which can overheat and may cause fire. The recall includes certain E-Class, C-Class and CLA cars and GLC and GLA SUVs, from the year 2015 to 2017. Out of a million vehicles to be recalled by the company, around 308,000 cars are from the US only. The Germany-based automobile manufacturer reported 51 fires all over the world, with around 30 in the US. The automaker has not reported any injuries or death due to the problem. Kia Motors Corp. more likely to establish its unit in AP

The Dollar Business Bureau South Korea’s automobile manufacturer is in the final process of establishing its first company- Kia Motors Corp. in India. The decision will be made shortly once the location is finalised. The two preferred states that the company wishes to establish its manufacturing units are Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Maharashtra. According to the media communication released by the company, the new unit is likely to begin its operations either by the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019. Renault plans multiple product launches till 2021 in India

The Dollar Business Bureau French automobile manufacturer Renault plans to introduce at least one new vehicle every year in the Indian market till 2021, comprising vehicles in the high selling sub-four metre division, even as the company aims to cross 5% market share in the local passenger vehicle segment by the year-end. “We plan to launch at least one new product every year, over the next five years, beginning with some exciting product innovations starting this year,” Sumit Sawhney, Managing Director Operations Country CEO of Renault India told PTI. The French auto major will keep launching ‘game changing products’ in India as it has been doing over the last few years, he said. Currently, Renault sells five models in the domestic market including hatchback Kwid and SUV Duster.  “India ...

India to become third largest automobile market by 2020: Study

The Dollar Business Bureau Total turnover of the automobile industry in India is expected to reach $145 billion by 2016   Despite a slowdown in recent years, India is expected to become a major automobile manufacturing hub and the third largest market for automobiles by 2020, according to a report published by Deloitte. The report says that the global automobile industry is changing and the focus is expected to turn to India where automobile demand and manufacturing are growing.
