India, France sign 14 agreements; commit to strengthen strategic ties

The Dollar Business Bureau Deepening the strategic ties between the two nations, India and France on Saturday signed 14 agreements in key areas of defence, nuclear energy, security, and protection of classified information besides resolving to deepen cooperation in the Indian Ocean region. The two countries also sealed business deals worth $16 billion.  The pacts were signed after extensive discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, who is on a state-visit to India from 10 to 12 March, 2018.  The 14 pacts include technical cooperation in the field of Railways, environment, education, urban development, renewable energy, defence and intelligence sharing. Switzerlands President Leuthard begins her India visit today

The Dollar Business Bureau  Switzerland’s President Doris Leuthard has started her three-day visit to India from Thursday, which is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.  The visit of Swiss President to India assumes high significance as India is looking for its entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), the 48-nation nuclear club, of which Switzerland is currently the chair.  Leuthard is accompanied by a huge business delegation and will hold discussions with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.  “Both countries share common views on many major global issues. New trade pact between India and Bhutan begins from July 29

The Dollar Business Bureau A new trade agreement between India and Bhutan has come into force from July 29. This was signed between the two countries on November 12, 2016. The move will further strengthen the bilateral trade ties between India and Bhutan an official communique read. ‘The agreement provides for a free trade regime between the countries and it also gives duty free transit of Bhutanese goods for trade with third countries,’ the Indian commerce ministry said in a statement. The bilateral trade relations are governed by this agreement.
