Govt to set up expert panel to better facilitate carpet exports

The Dollar Business Bureau The Indian government will constitute a carpet export panel consisting of textile experts from the textile department and from the Export Promotion Council/Trade to ensure expeditious examination and speedier disbursal of drawback on carpets. The Directorate General of Export Promotion (DGEP) said these experts will complete a market inquiry within fifteen days, failing which export benefits to the exporters should be extended. The government said a post-facto action may be taken in view of results of inquiry and export benefits be held beyond 15 days only with the written approval of the Commissioner. CEPC expects business of a few thousand crore rupees at India Carpet Expo

Aamir H Kaki Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), said on Monday that they are expecting a business of a few thousand crore rupees at the 33rd edition of India Carpet Expo (ICE). “We are hoping to generate a lot of business from this edition of ICE. This is one of our bi-annual events and I personally feel that New Delhi is easy for buyers to come. The previous edition was held in Varanasi last year. 31st India Carpet Expo realises Rs.260 crore business

 The Dollar Business Bureau The 31st edition of Indian Carpet Expo, organised by Carpet Export Promotion Council(CEPC), ended on Monday after having showcased Indian weaving skills amongst overseas carpet buyers. The four-day expo that was inaugurated by Union Textiles Minister, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, on March 11, 2016 at NSIC Exhibition Complex, Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi, showcased products from 270 reputed small, medium and large manufacturer exporters across the country.
