Availability of fertilisers far exceeds the demand: Mandaviya

The Dollar Business Bureau The availability of overall fertilisers in the country is 129.92 lakh MT, which surpasses the overall demand of 95.84 lakh MT, said Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh L Mandaviya on Tuesday. “The availability of fertilisers far exceeds their requirement in the country,” Mandaviya said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha. “Nowadays, scarcity of fertilisers has become a thing of the past in the country which has been possible due to the visionary policies of current Government,” he added. A fungicide named tricyclazole which many farmers use to prevent leaf and neck blast in basmati paddy varieties was banned by EU. For sometime EU had allowed a maximum residue limit (MRL) of 1ppm (parts per million) on the basmati rice that was exported to EU. India imposes definitive ADD on imports of Hydrogen peroxide from six Asian countries

The Dollar Business Bureau  India has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on the imports of hydrogen peroxide largely used in corrosion control and bleaching both industrially and domestically, on six of its neighbours. The countries Bangladesh, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Pakistan and Thailand have been dumping hydrogen peroxide at cheaper rates causing injury to the domestic players.  Two Indian companies, National Peroxide Ltd and Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd had appealed to the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping(DGAD) to initiate a probe into the indiscriminate dumping of the chemical in the Indian market.  The DGAD after the probe has recommended the imposition of anti-dumping duty ranging between $46.16 to $117.94 on all the six countries. India imposes anti-dumping duty on Iran, Qatar and China for chemical dumping

The Dollar Business Bureau India has imposed anti-dumping duty ranging between $23.78 to $300.22 on the imports of  Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) from China, Qatar and Iran. LAB is majorly used in the preparation of various detergents. A notice to the effect was issued by the DGAD  via Customs notification no.12/2017-CUSTOMS dated April 11, 2017, to protect the domestic players from the cheap dumping of the shipments. Two Indian companies, Nirma Ltd and Tamilnadu Petroproducts had jointly filed an application on 7th December, 2015 to the DGAD to investigate the cheap dumping of the chemical by various companies of Qatar, China and Iran. Coal gas to help reduce import bill by $10 bn in 5 years

The Dollar Business Bureau The government can encourage the use of domestic coal gas to produce urea and other chemicals in order to cut down on its imports bill by as much as $10 billion over the next five years. Coal Secretary Susheel Kumar said the imports of petroleum and natural gas can be slashed if we are able to produce gas from coal.   "If we are able to replace this import by indigenous coal gasification ... it can safely be said that in next five years time, about $10 billion worth of import can be substituted.
