Indian Cabinet okays India-Palestine MoU on agriculture cooperation

The Dollar Business Bureau The Indian Cabinet has given its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and the Ministry of Agriculture in the State of Palestine on agriculture cooperation. This was signed in May 2017, when Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs had visited the country. What could seem to be an innocuous agreement, one should also look at the extra efforts on the part of the Indian government to balance its ties with Israel, Palestine, Iran and the West Asian countries. The Dollar Business Bureau  Trump administration on Sunday labelled the Paris climate change agreement as a "bad deal" for the US; however, it underscored that the country would continue to take an active part in international climate change discussions. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt, however, did not confirm whether the US would stay in the global climate change deal, under which almost all countries agreed to halt or curb their greenhouse gas emissions. Trump signs order to reverse Obamas climate change policies

The Dollar Business Bureau Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order to reverse the climate change policy of former President Barack Obama, bringing back the question as to whether the US leadership will actively promote the campaign against global warming. Keeping his promise to support the coal sector, Trump inked the executive order at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Climate change to hurt global financial assets

The Dollar Business Bureau  Climate change could wipe off the value of global assets by $2.5 trillion, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) new set of economic modeling. “Under a business-as-usual emissions path, this could cut $2.5 trillion off their value. However, under a worst-case scenario this could rise to $24.2 trillion,” said the global body, highlighting the quantum of the impact.  The WEF made the revelation after it assessed the impact of climate change on the current value of global financial assets. Adani's coal mine project in Aus faces fresh legal challenge

Source: PTI Indian mining giant Adani's $16.5-billion controversy-hit coal mine project in Australia on Monday faced a fresh legal challenge from an environmental group which sought quashing of a new government approval on grounds that it would harm the fragile Great Barrier Reef and add to climate change. The mega project located in Queensland's Galilee Basin was last month granted re-approval by EnvironmentMinister Greg Hunt. The mine, which would be the biggest in Australia, was approved subject to 36 strict conditions after a court action sidelined the project earlier this year because of its impact on the ornamental snake and yakka skink, a vulnerable species that hides under rocks.
