AEPC demands refund of IGST on apparel machinery import

The Dollar Business Bureau Exporters’ body Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has asked the Ministry of Finance for the refund of Integrated Goods and Service Tax (IGST) paid on the import of machinery used by apparel manufacturer exporters. AEPC, in a letter written to Ministry of Finance, has stated that after the implementation of GST from July 1, 2017, apparel exporters are required to pay IGST up to 18% on assessable value plus basic customs duty (BCD) while clearing shipments of capital goods under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme. “The incidence of a very high IGST without any corresponding relaxation for export obligation has rendered the EPCG scheme unattractive,” AEPC said in a statement. US Committee says Indian policies are discriminating against US exports and investments

The Dollar Business Bureau The influential House Appropriations Committee in its report accompanying the annual Appropriations Bill 2018, said that several policies adopted by the Indian government to boost its economic growth, protect domestic manufacturing, actually discriminated against US exports and investments. 'India, while striving to improve its economic growth, has been enacting a series of policies to increase domestic manufacturing and protect domestic industries and agricultural production that discriminate against US exports and investment,' the Committee said. Govt imposes anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil imports from China

The Dollar Business Bureau In order to safeguard the domestic industry, the Government has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of aluminium foil from China.  “The designated authority has recommended imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on the imports of subject goods, originating in, or exported from the subject country and imported into India, in order to remove injury to the domestic industry,” Finance Ministry said in a notification (No.23/2017-Customs - ADD) on Tuesday. “The Authority has come to the conclusion that the subject goods have been exported to India from the China below normal values and the domestic industry has suffered material injury on account of subject imports from subject country,” the notification said. DGAD recommends anti-dumping duty on amoxycillin imports from China

The Dollar Business Bureau  Directorate of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on the imports of amoxycillin from China PR in order to remove the impact of injury caused to domestic industry due to cheap imports. Amoxycillin, also known as Amoxicillin Trihydrate, is a semisynthetic antibiotic, an analog of ampicillin, with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms and is used to reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria.
