Philippines exports to EU increases 56.2%

The Dollar Business Bureau The EU was the largest destination of exports for Philippines in March this year. The latest statistics by Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed that exports to European Union member countries, with 16.2% share to total merchandise exports amounted to $901.24 million.  It rose by 56.2% from $577.04 million recorded in March 2016. What was even more interesting was that the export numbers of Philippines to EU for that month overtook those of US which was $809.93 million and Japan $762.43 million. Power equipment exports dip 50% in last 2 yrs: FGi

Sharath Chowdary With the global economic slowdown, India’s electrical power equipment exports have declined around 50% in the past two years, Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGi) Vice President Nitin Mankad told The Dollar Business Bureau. Nitin Mankad said, “Countries from Europe, Africa and Middle East are the main export markets for Indian power equipment. Due to the slowdown in the world economy, the imports have decreased heavily in the last couple of years.” Due to the initiatives taken up by the Indian government to electrify rural areas, the country’s power equipment has registered 6.8% growth in FY 2016 over the previous fiscal year. Havells to ramp up stake in Promptec Renewable

The Dollar Business Bureau Havells India has acquired  a 51% stake in Promptec at an enterprise value of Rs.65 crore. This would ramp up its stake in Promptec Renewable Energy Solutions for an undisclosed amount, the electrical equipment firm said in a statement to BSE. According to it, Havells India has signed a tripartite agreement with its subsidiary Promptec Renewable Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd on Monday. Post-acquisition, the promoter-side of Promptec will continue to hold a 49% stake in the company. This marks the entry of Havells in the field of solar energy.
