Exports from SEZs grew 18% in February 2018

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s exports from the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) has witnessed an increase of 18% in the month of February this year as compared to the same month last year, on the back of a good growth in the shipments of electronics, non-conventional energy products and tobacco related products. “The SEZ sector in the country has registered 18% growth in exports in February 2018 vis-a-vis the same period in 2017,” according to the latest Exports Performance Report released by the Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES).   “In February, the total exports from all the SEZs amounted to Rs.22364 crore as against Rs.18990 crore in the same month last year,” the report said. Salzer Electronics eyeing 15% CAGR, Rs.1000 cr revenue by 2021

The Dollar Business Bureau Salzer Electronics, a leading name in the field of electrical products manufacturing, said on Monday that it is looking at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15% and aims to become a Rs.1,000 crore firm by 2021, following technology alliances globally and augment the share of value-added products. “We expect Rs.430 crore turnover by FY 18, Rs.520 crore by FY 19 and intend to emerge as a Rs.1,000 crore company by 2021,” R Doraiswamy, Managing Director of Salzer Electronics told PTI. “We believe that revenues from our existing products are expected to grow at a 15% CAGR during this period. UK joins US airline electronics ban

PTI The UK today imposed a ban on carrying laptops as part of cabin baggage on Britain-bound passenger flights from six Muslim-majority countries, hours after US introduced a similar move citing terrorism concerns. The ban will cover around 14 airlines that operate direct flights from largely Muslim countries Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia. The UK restrictions also apply to tablets, DVD players and phones over certain size. "Direct flights to the UK from these destinations can continue to operate to the UK subject to new measures being in place. Government okays Rs 10,000 crore incentive for electronics manufacturing

The Dollar Business Bureau The government's approval of a Rs 10,000 crore incentive by March 2018 for electronics manufacturing in India has brought the industry closer its goal of 'net zero imports' in electronics by 2020. This incentive, the government says, will bring employment to as many as three crore people. Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturer Association (CEAMA) has welcomed the move that is likely to reduce India's dependence on imports for many components required in the manufacture of handsets. The Dollar Business Bureau Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) has developed Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for the procurement of goods and services by government buyers. This platform would ensure transparency and revolutionise government procurement, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said after launching the GeM in New Delhi on Tuesday. The DGS&D, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has developed the portal as a one stop online marketplace for several government departments and procurement agencies for their regular needs. The GeM would offer complete end-to-end procurement system for the purchase of required goods and services by the government buyers. Telangana ready to offer land cluster to Korean cos
