Maggi row prompts traders to demand policy on brand endorsement

According to the Confederation of All Indian Traders (CAIT), the row over Nestle’s noodle— Maggi— has provided an opportunity for the government to formulate a stringent policy for brand endorsement. “When there is a mass scale of brand endorsement being done by celebrities, there should be a policy for brand ambassadors in the larger interest of consumers. Centre gives the nod for setting up of 30 new cold chain projects

The Dollar Business Bureau The Government of India has sanctioned the proposal for setting up of 30 new cold chain proposals with a grant-in-aid of Rs 274.9 crore. The above information was given by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister of Food Processing Industries, who told the media that the aid would attract an investment of Rs 470 crore, reported a PIB release. Twenty-five states yet to meet Food Security Act requirements

Centre softens norms to boost investment in food processing

 The Dollar Business Bureau In an effort to boost investment in the food processing sector, the government has introduced some changes in its guidelines of the Mega Food Park scheme. The changes in guidelines, approved by the cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA), will streamline the setting up of modern food processing plants across the state. These modifications are expected to trigger further investment in the food processing sector and ensure smooth implementation of the Mega Food Parks scheme particularly, the projects that are at initial stages, a government statement said on Thursday. Union cabinet gives its nod for hike in import duty on sugar to 40%

This move by the government comes a day after the government’s decision to ease norms for the export of sugar to the United States and the European Union.
