Indias food grain output to record 275.68 MT in 2016-17

The Dollar Business Bureau With good monsoon rains and various policy initiatives by the Government, India’s overall production of food grain to be increased by 2.3 million tonne to an all-time high of 275.68 million tonnes in the crop year 2016-17, according to the fourth advance estimates released by the Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday. Record production has been achieved in wheat, rice, pulses and coarse cereals in the crop year that ended in June.  The previous record of food grain production was 265.04 million tonnes, achieved in the crop year 2013-14 (July-June). Kharif foodgrain production to surpass last year numbers: Agri Secretary

Record production of food grains in India in 2016-17: Radha Mohan Singh

Himachal's growth rate likely to be 6.8 pc in 2016-17: Survey

PTI  The growth rate of Himachal Pradesh is expected to be 6.8 per cent and per capita income likely to rise to Rs 1.47 lakh during 2016-17, as per the Economic Survey of the state. "The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is expected to increase from Rs 1,13,667 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 1,24,570 crore in 2016-17, while the growth rate under the 12th Plan (2012-17) has been estimated at 7.2 per cent," said the Economic Survey for the current financial year, presented by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in the Assembly today. China likely to import more food grains as output declines

The Dollar Business Bureau China is expected to import more grains as compared to last year after the country’s production this year dropped by around 5.2 million tonnes and the planting area dipped and the yield per unit edged down, as per official data. In 2016, China’s total grain output stood at around 616 million tonnes, dropped by around 5.2 million tonnes (about 0.8%), compared with the previous year, according to the data released by the China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
