HAL signs MoU with MoD; targets Rs.17,900 cr revenue in FY18

The Dollar Business Bureau Targeting a highest ever revenue at Rs.17,900 crore for current financial year, state-owned aerospace and defence firm, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).  HAL has also put special emphasis on modernisation, capacity building and solar power plants, with the aim to attain a capital expenditure (capex) of Rs.1,300 crore, the company said in a statement. The MoU has charted out the targets on several performance parameters for the current fiscal. India-Russia progress in defence co-operation through Make in India

The Dollar Business Bureau After fruitful negotiations between India and Russia as a part of the India-Russia Military Industrial Conference, two agreements were signed between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and United Aircraft Corporation and United Engine Corporation of Russia for long-term technical assistance and spare parts required to service the Russia-originated Su -30 MKI aircraft.  Russia has broadly agreed to enter into joint ventures with Indian manufacturers for a seamless supply of spare parts and components necessary to maintain operational readiness of Russian-origin defence platforms used by the Indian Army.  This positive development was brought about even as Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, in his inaugural speech, called upon Russian firms to extend defence cooperation with India in manufacturing, by sharing defence technology. Plans to export LCA Tejas to other countries: MoD

The Dollar Business Bureau The Minister for Defence Manohar Parrikar in a reply to a question in the Lok Sabha yesterday, has said that the government proposes to export Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas to other countries. Preliminary discussions with a few friendly countries are in progress. It should be recalled that Sri Lanka had expressed interest to purchase the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas in February 2016. Also during the recent International Airshow, at Bahrain, 2016 the HAL chief had revealed that there were many enquiries from countries to purchase LCA, Tejas. But major hurdles could be expected from countries like US, Israel, UK and Canada who have provided the key technology inputs needed to build the fighter jet. Parrikar inaugurates HAL-Safran JV for helicopter engines in Goa

The Dollar Business Bureau The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar inaugurated Helicopter Engines Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (HE-MRO), a Joint Venture of HAL and Safran Helicopter Engines (SafranHE), France at Sattari District, North Goa, yesterday. The JV will provide MRO services for Safran TM333 2B2 and HAL Shakti engines installed on HAL-built helicopters operated by the defence services. Speaking on the occasion, Parrikar said this is a step towards creating employment opportunities with corresponding boost to the economic activities in Goa. “This is the right place for MRO activities related to helicopter engines. Reliance Defence inks pact with 3 Ukrainian firms

Source: PTI Reliance Defence has signed strategic partnership agreement with three Ukrainian state- owned companies which will allow them to collaborate on a range of military products including transport aircraft, upgrade of armoured vehicles, maritime gas turbines and unmanned aerial vehicles. Indo-US new defence framework to ease technology transfer
