Australian dairy exporters keen on FTA with India

Source: PTI   Australian dairy exporters have asked the government to push for a free trade agreement (FTA) with India in a bid to improve the access to the country's huge market. Australian agriculture service provider Cargill said that while current demand was growing at 7% a year, production was rising by just 4% and India was set to become a net importer by 2020, according to AAP news report. The local dairy exporters were now seeking the FTA with India in the face of stiff tariff barriers of between 30 and 60% on dairy products. India insulated from economic fallout, says FM

Source: PTI Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said despite a global slowdown and its impact on countries, India remains insulated from the economic fallout and stands out as a “brighter spot”. “India is not a part of the Chinese production chain, significantly. Israeli defence equipment maker forms joint venture with Indian firm

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s microwave radio system manufacturer Astra Microwave Products Ltd on Monday announced that it will form a joint venture with Israeli defence manufacturing company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd to produce high-tech signal intelligence system used in defence communication. The two companies have agreed to invest $20 million over the next two years. The joint venture company will be based in Hyderabad and it is expected to start operation in the first half of 2016. “To start with, ASTRA and M/s Rafael will own 51:49 in the JVC and will become 50:50 subject to regulatory approvals,” Astra Microwave said in a statement. India and Israel have long enjoyed a close commercial relation, especially in defence sector.
