Reliance Defence rolls out 2 Naval Offshore Vessels at Pipavav

The Dollar Business Bureau Two Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPVs), built by Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd (RDEL), were launched on Tuesday at the company’s shipyard at Pipavav in Gujarat. The two NOPVs - NS001 & NS002, are part of five warships project being built by RDEL for the Indian Navy. “The five NOPVs being constructed at Reliance Shipyard are patrol ships and are armed with 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) system, along with two 30mm AK-630 guns which provide medium range and short range offensive and defensive capabilities. The armament is remotely controlled through an electronic fire control system,” the company said in a statement. Israel and India sign $630 mn deal to develop missiles for Indian navy

The Dollar Business Bureau Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) the official branch of Israel defence said today that it has signed another deal worth $630 mn to supply Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) systems to the Indian navy. The deal would be jointly executed by Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) serving as the main contractor in the project, IAI and DRDO. The development of the missile in India would give a boost to the PM’s Make in India campaign. This is also going to be Israel’s largest defence contract with India which is worth $2 billion. Govt. has cleared over 2 lakh cr worth defence acquisition since 2014

US likely to make sale of Guardian drones to India: officials

PTI The US is likely to make a positive decision on India's request for state-of-the art unarmed Guardian drones for maritime surveillance, especially in the Indian Ocean. The move comes after India was designated a major defence partner of the US in June. Government allows foreign firm to bid for a domestic helicopter contract

 The Dollar Business Bureau In a move to promote the Make in India, the Government of India has decided to allow a foreign firm to bid for a Naval Utility Helicopter (NUH) contract, on the condition that the firm ties up with a local vendor. According to the Defence News, the Indian government is likely to allow the Italy-based AugustaWestland to bid for NUH for the Indian Navy. The contract by the Indian Navy, for the supply of 100 light-utility vehicles is estimated to be worth around US$ 2 billion, the report informed.
