Maruti Suzuki India contributes to 50% of Suzukis global sales

The Dollar Business Bureau The Indian arm of Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Maruti Suzuki India contributed more than 50% to its parent company’s global sales in terms of volumes in the period April-December of the current fiscal.  SMC said that during April to December period of this fiscal, its Indian automobile sales stood at 10.61 lakh units, whereas its total global sales stood at 20.83 lakh units at 50.93%. Maruti Suzuki may advance commissioning of Guj plant

The Dollar Business Bureau Owing to the increased demand for its products, India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSI) may proceed commissioning of the phase II of capacity expansion at its plant in Gujarat. The phase I of the plant, which has a capacity of producing 2.5 lakh units, is likely to come into operations by early 2017.The phase II, with the same production capacity, may become operational by 2019 as the company is facing long period of waiting for products such as Baleno and Vitara Brezza.“We may look at advancing the second manufacturing phase in Gujarat,” R S Bhargava, Chairman of MSI told journalists on the sidelines of 56th Annual Session of ACMA held in New Delhi. The Gujarat facility will have ...

Maruti Suzuki profit up 23% in Q1 of FY 2016-17

The Dollar Business Bureau Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said on Tuesday that it has posted a 23 percent rise in its net profit during the first quarter of 2016-17 fiscal. The country’s top-selling car manufacturer said the company’s profit during the April-June quarter stood at Rs.14.86 billion ($220.80 million), up from Rs.12.08 billion during the same period a year ago. Its net sales grew about 12 percent to 146.5 billion rupees. “The profit in the quarter was helped by a higher turnover, material cost reduction, higher non-operating income and lower depreciation,” Maruti Suzuki said in a statement. Maruti to focus on double digit growth target in FY'17

PTI Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) today said its double digit growth target remains on track for the current fiscal despite production losses of 30,000 units in June owing to fire in one of its key vendor facilities at Manesar. "Whatever losses we had we will make up in the next few months as our production engineers are working on how to increase the production," MSIL Executive Director R S Kalsi said here today on the sidelines of the launch of new platinum rated showroom of 'One Auto' in Kolkata. Maruti starts export of LCV to S. Africa, Tanzania

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s largest automotive maker, Maruti Suzuki, revealed that it began exporting the much-anticipated Light Commercial Vehicle-LCV ‘Super Carry’ to Tanzanian and South African markets. Meanwhile, the LCV will be launched in India in the second quarter of the current fiscal. The first batch comprising of 100 Super Carry LCV’s has been shipped, revealed Maruti Suzuki India. The models being shipped to South Africa and Tanzania include the petrol variant of the LCV, which is run by G12B engine. Car exports from India decline marginally in Apr-Sep period

Source: PTI Car exports from India declined marginally to 2,67,043 units in the first six months of the current fiscal due to challenges in various markets including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India had exported 2,68,863 units in the same period of last fiscal, 2014-15. According to Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM), during April-September, 2015-16, the largest car exporter from the country Hyundai Motor India saw 13.91% drop in car exports to 83,522 units from 97,021 units in April-September period of 2014-15. FICCI initiates an awareness program with Quality Council of India for manufacturing

The Dollar Business Bureau In association with the Quality Council of India, FICCI on June 26, 2015 initiated an awareness program about the ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’ Maturity Assessment Model. “This initiative is intended to give a major fillip to Prime Minister Modi’s vision to manufacture products with 'zero defect' in terms of quality and with 'zero effect' in terms of environmental impact under the ‘Make in India’ umbrella,” said the industry body in a statement.
