Chidambaranar Port, TANGEDCO ink pact to upgrade coal jetties to handle 24 mn tonnes

The Dollar Business Bureau One of the top major ports in the country, the VO Chidambaranar (VOC) Port and Tamil Nadu’s Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) inked an agreement today to increase the capacities of two coal jetties at the port four-fold to 24 million tonnes for Rs 800 crore. The pact will upgrade two coal jetties at VOC Port - Jetty I and II -- from 6.25 MTPA (million tonne per annum) to 24 MTPA. Cabinet approves $4.5 billion Line of Credit to Bangladesh

The Dollar Business Bureau  A MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) that was signed between India and Bangladesh during a recent diplomatic visit made by Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina enabled India to extend a $4.5 billion Line of Credit (LoC) to its eastern neighbour.  This MoU, on Wednesday, received a final nod from the Union Cabinet chaired by Narendra Modi. The Cabinet’s ex-post facto approval has officially sealed India’s financial participation in the infrastructural development of Bangladesh, which will also enable India’s connectivity with its North Eastern neighbours.  The projects to be financed by this LoC will also create new business opportunities for Indian companies in Bangladesh. India to build pipelines for supply of diesel and gas to Bangladesh

The  Dollar Business Bureau As part of the Framework of Understanding (FoU) on Cooperation in the Hydrocarbon Sector with Bangladesh, India is going to build two pipelines for diesel and natural gas between the two countries. The FoU was approved by the Cabinet soon after the recent visit of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The said FoU is non-binding in nature and expires after five years. With an objective of strengthening energy ties with its neighbours to enhance regional energy security, India will build a 131 km pipeline for diesel transportation from Siliguri in West Bengal to Parbatipur in Bangladesh. Another pipeline for natural gas will be laid from Dattapulia in West Bengal to Khulna in Bangladesh.
