Indias bauxite production is likely to reach to 49 MT by 2021: BMI report

The Dollar Business Bureau Bauxite production in India is likely to increase to 49.4 million tonnes by 2021 from 22.08 million tonnes in 2016, according to a report.   The production of bauxite in the country is estimated to be 26.1 million tonnes in 2017, an increase of 18 compared to last year 2016, the report by BMI Research said. Philippines may ban unprocessed mineral exports

The Dollar Business Bureau Philippines is considering imposing a ban on unprocessed mineral exports in an effort to encourage value addition to the mining sector, a senior government official said. Philippines is the topmost nickel ore exporter in the world, supplying almost all of its production to China. The previous governments had supported the calls to promote domestic processing of minerals but their efforts were unsuccessful as the Congress was unable to enact appropriate laws. “It’s one of the things we’re considering for any mine that we think should remain operating. India needs more foreign investment in mining sector
