Mercedes-Benz to bring in BS VI emission models to India in 2018

The Dollar Business Bureau Mercedes Benz is planning to bring in BS VI emission compliant models into India in 2018. A press release to the media said that the company is also willing to forge partnership with oil firms for higher grade oil needed for these models. The car maker has already sought help from various ministries, including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which has asked them to get in touch with the oil and gas firms. Cruise tourism can be a major growth driver for Indian economy, Gadkari

India, UK to sign an MoU in transport sector

L&T Hydrocarbon bags orders worth Rs.4k cr

The Dollar Business Bureau  L&T Hydrocarbon, fully owned subsidiary of Indian multinational Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has won orders worth Rs.4,000 crore in the foreign market. The construction arm of L&T has recently won Rs.1,725 crore worth of orders across two business divisions. “L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has won orders totalling close to Rs.4,000 crore in the international market,” L&T said in a filing with BSE.    In transportation infrastructure division, the company had won Rs.725 crore worth of contracts. “A procurement, engineering, and construction contract has been bagged from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for 4-laning of the section Wadpale to Bhogaon Khurd of National Highway 17 in the state of Maharashtra,” the ...

Major ports register cargo growth post demonetisation: Mansukh Lal

The Dollar Business Bureau Post-demonetisation, 12 main ports of the country have recorded a considerable growth in terms of cargo handled in the months of November and December by recording a rise of 11.2% and 12.7%, respectively. “Cargo handled by major ports after demonetisation have shown a growth in comparison to the same period last year,” Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Mansukh Lal Mandaviya, told Rajya Sabha in a written response. The Minister said 56.7 million tonnes of cargo was handled by the ports in month of December last year (growth of 12.7%) and registered 54 million tonnes cargo in the month of November (a growth 11.2%). Govt to develop economic corridors, logistics parks

PTI With an aim to boost ‘logistics efficiency’, the Centre is looking at developing economic corridors and also planning to come up with logistic parks on national highways, Parliament was informed on Monday. “Ministry of Road Transport and Highways got a study conducted on logistics efficiency enhancement. The report has made several recommendations including, inter alia, development of economic corridors, feeder routes and removal of choke points, along with development of logistics parks on national highways,” Minister of State for Highways Mansukh Lal Mandavia told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on Monday. NHAI to award Rs 1 lakh cr. worth highway projects in FY'17

The Dollar Business Bureau The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is likely to award Rs.1 lakh crore worth of projects for the construction of about 6,500 km of highways in this fiscal. “We should be able to award projects for about 6,500 km and costing overall package size for about Rs.1 lakh crore (in current fiscal),” NHAI Chairman Raghav Chandra told journalists on Wednesday.
