Intl convention of travel-tourism professionals at Hyd nxt yr

PTI  An international convention of travel and tourism professionals from 88 countries would be held in Hyderabad next year. The Skal International Congress, International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals comprising 1,000 operators from 88 countries, would be held from October 5-8, 2017, the Telangana government said. Skal is a professional organisation of tourism leaders from around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry, it said. Its members, the industry's managers and executives meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest, it said. The convention would promote Hyderabad to the international tourism circuit, it added.

Foreign tourist arrivals to India rise 7.3% in June

Sharath Chowdary Foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) to India have increased 7.3% at 5.50 lakh during the month of June, 2016 when compared to 5.12 lakh FTAs in the same month last year as per the Ministry of Tourism monthly estimates released on Monday. The ministry compiles this with the data from Bureau of Immigration and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The FTAs rose 8.9% at 41.86 lakh during the period January-June 2016 as against 38.45 lakh FTAs in the corresponding period previous year. The share of FTAs in India was highest from US (22%), followed by Bangladesh, UK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Australia, China, Canada, Japan, Singapore, France, Germany, Nepal, Pakistan and Korea during the last month. Govt proposes to increase Indias share in foreign tourist arrival

He was addressing the Meeting of Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in New Delhi on Monday. Extension of TVoA scheme to enhance India-China tourism co-operation

The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Minister of Tourism, Mahesh Sharma, in a meeting with the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, raised concerns over the issues affecting the Tourism Ministry’s Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) scheme. In this regard, the Union Home Minister approved the formation of a Committee under the Chairmanship of Additional Secretary (Foreigners), which contains three Joint Secretaries from Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Civil Aviation, as members. Forex earnings increase due to rise in tourist arrivals

Sai Nikesh | The Dollar Business The Indian Ministry of Tourism’s latest official release says that the Indian Tourism sector has witnessed a growth rate in January, 2015. According to the Ministry’s monthly estimates released on Tuesday, the Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTA) and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) in terms of rupees, have increased to 4% over the corresponding year. According to statistics, FTAs, by accounting to a total of 7.90 lakh during January, 2015, over 7.59 lakh in the corresponding year, has achieved 4% growth rate.
