Potato production in India to be at 47 MT this year

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s potato output is projected to be around 47 million tonnes in the current year, just a level below of all-time high recorded in 2014. The potato production was 43.4 million tonnes in the crop year 2015-16 (July-June), whereas the previous record was 48 million tonnes witnessed in 2014-15. “Looking at the crop condition and arrival in mandis, I feel the overall output will be close to record levels. Himanshu Vatsa | The Dollar Business India’s mango exports are expected to see a significant decline this year, as growers mainly in the northern region are facing huge damage to their crops due to bad weather. “Mango production is expected to decline by 60% due to squall, hailstorms and unseasonal rains during the flowering season. This year, the export of the fruit will be far less than the previous fiscal,” said Insram Ali, President, All India Mango Growers Association.
