Passengers in Qatar airways can now travel seamlessly to and from India, over 150 destinations on single ticket

The Dollar Business Bureau Qatar Airways and Vistara on Tuesday entered into an interline partnership, under which customers of the two carriers will have seamless travel to and from India to over 150 destinations. The partnership is effective from Monday, Qatar Airways said in a media release. The Gulf carrier currently operates to 13 cities in India from Doha while Vistara, the Tata-SIA run domestic carrier operates to 18 domestic destinations. An interline arrangement refers to a pact to issue and accept tickets for flights that are operated by the partner airline. When selling an interline ticket, the operating airline's own flight numbers are used. Indian domestic air traffic in Mar 2017 grew slowest since Sept 2015

The Dollar Business Bureau As per the measure of revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), a unit used to measure passenger volume, International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that India’s domestic passenger traffic, during the month of March 2017, grew at the slowest rate since September 2015. “China overtakes India as the fastest growing domestic market,” the monthly report stated. Monthly air passenger market analysis report released by the international association, recorded a robust 7% first quarter global growth in passenger demand, which is well ahead of the long-run average of around 5.5%. However, the report cited the reasons for slow demand growth in India to be the ‘reduced cash supply’ and ‘wider economic uncertainty’. China's first large passenger plane makes maiden flight

PTI China's first large homemade passenger jet, touted as a competitor to Boeing and Airbus, made its maiden flight today, heralding the Communist giant's entry into the highly-competitive global aviation sector. The 158-seater C919 aircraft took to the skies from Shanghai Pudong International Airport in eastern China and made the country the fourth jumbo jet producer after the US, Europe and Russia, the state media reported. The 80-minute flight was greeted with applause by more than 1,000 spectators on the tarmac, including Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai and Shanghai Party chief Han Zheng. Indias domestic air passenger traffic surges 16% in Feb

The Dollar Business Bureau Air passenger traffic of domestic carriers increased around 16% to 86.55 lakh in the month of February compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the data by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). India’s domestic carriers together flew overall 86.55 lakh passengers in the month of February 2017 against the 74.76 lakh passengers in the same month of the previous year, witnessing a growth of 15.77%, the data said. Domestic airline passenger traffic up 21.13% in six months

Source: PIB, Government of India The rate of passengers carried by domestic airlines witnessed 21.13% growth during January-July, 2015, compared to the corresponding period of previous year. The passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-July, 2015 were 455.78 lakh as against 376.28 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering a growth of 21.13 %. Total number of 67.45 lakh domestic passengers was carried by scheduled domestic airlines in the month of July, 2015.
