No need of NOC for pharma exports: Govt

The Dollar Business Bureau In a bid to facilitate exports and make easier to do business, the Government on Wednesday eased the guidelines for drugs, medical devices and cosmetics exporters. Now the pharmaceutical companies will no longer have to get ‘no-objection’ certificate (NOC) from regulatory authority to export drugs and medical devices. “The pharmaceutical exporters can continue exporting without having to obtain no-objection certificates (NOC) from the regulatory authorities,” said the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) in a notice. Earlier, this facility was only available for exports to Australia, US, Japan, Canada, and European Union. Pharmexcil seeks assistance from Commerce Ministry in resolving export issues post GST

The Dollar Business Bureau  In order to resolve the difficulties that the pharma exporters are facing with the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has asked for the assistance of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It has to be noted here that the Government had withdrawn incentives provided to pharmaceutical exporters under GST. Pharmexcil, in a letter written to Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia, stated that various categories of pharmaceuticals exporters specifically manufacturer-exporters and merchant exporters have to pay GST at various stages and then they can claim for refund, which results in blocking of working capital. Madan Mohan Reddy takes charge as Pharmexcil Chairman

Sharath Chowdary Aurobindo Pharma’s whole time Director Madan Mohan Reddy has assumed charge as Chairman of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), as announced during the 65th annual meeting of Committee of Administration (CoA) in Hyderabad on Friday. He was elevated to the present post after serving for two years as Vice Chairman of Pharmexcil.   Madan Mohan Reddy, a post-graduate in organic chemistry, has more than 25 years of experience in the pharma industry. He has worked in several senior management positions in top pharma companies. For the past ten years, manufacture of formulations at Aurobindo was his forte. Pharmexcil to compile CAGR forecast on pharma exports

The Dollar Business Bureau Committed to enhance India’s market share in Europe, Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) is planning to begin its work on preparing a document forecasting the country’s likely CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) in the coming four years. This step comes at a time when pharmaceutical sector is being recognised by government amongst the top sectors for export with high potential. In this context, Pharmexcil has been asked by the government to compile a forecast of possible CAGR in the coming four years, keeping 2015-16 as the base year with a growth rate of 4.5 percent of the country’s pharmaceutical exports to the Europe. Pharmexcil to get new Chairman, Vice Chairman

A formal notification on the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council’s (Pharmexcil) website pointed out to an impending election notification, and sought nominations from its members. This is in line with the Commerce ministry’s regulations that took some time due to various internal issues. Indias pharma exports increase by 9.7% in 2015-16

The Dollar Business Bureau Union Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia said that India’s pharmaceutical exports have increased by 9.7 percent in the last fiscal, whereas the country’s exports to the US grew to 33 percent. In 2014-15, the country’s pharmaceutical exports were around Rs.96,000 crore.  “The country’s pharmaceutical exports are one of the best stories of Indian exports. We have registered 9.7 percent jump and 33 percent growth in exports to the US market.
