APM Terminals Pipavav acquires 3 cranes from China

The cranes will be commissioned in a phased manner to replace the existing ones at the port. Centre to aid Rajasthan in building inland shipping port

Source: PIB, Government of India The Inland Waterways Authority of India under the Ministry of Shipping proposes to guide and support Rajasthan government for building an inland shipping port at Jalore. The port and the terminal that are to be created will help develop inland navigation facilities in western Rajasthan and will also bring about socio-economic development of the region. Business development opportunities along the canal for limestone, gypsum, lignite and cement factories are to be explored by the state government. 'Iran offers gas at $2.95, India to invest Rs.1 lakh crore'

Source: PTI Iran has offered to supply natural gas at $2.95 for a urea plant that India will set up at Chabahar port on the Persian Gulf, but New Delhi wants rates to be lowered. With the US and other western powers easing sanctions against Iran, India has been in talks with Tehran to set up a gas-based urea manufacturing plant at the Chabahar port, besides developing a gas discovery ONGC had made. Arrival of imported pulses to begin from next week

The committee reviewed the current status of the arrival of imported pulses and onion. On pulses, MMTC appraised that 2500 MT of the imported Tur will arrive in three tranches at Chennai port and similar quantity of around 2500 MT of Tur will arrive at JNPT in four tranches beginning from September 23. The entire consignment of 5,000 MT of Tur would be received at the two ports by October 20, 2015. To further improve the availability, import of additional 5,000 MT of Tur has also been approved. Government ready to improve competitiveness of Indian exporters: FM

The Dollar Business Bureau Taking note of the falling exports from the country, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has agreed to take prompt measures to improve competitiveness for Indian exporters in the international market. The government data shows that India’s overall merchandise export in the first two months of the current financial year has contracted by more than 17% to $44.4 billion as against $53.6 billion registered during the same period a year ago.
