Activate stalled engines to sustain 7.6% growth: WB

The Dollar Business Bureau The World Bank has said that India needs to activate all the “stalled engines” including rural demand and private investment to sustain the growth of 7.6 percent in the upcoming years. The bank has said that the country’s economy has expanded at a much faster pace in the 2015-16 even though there are number of growth machines that were stalled. India records 10-yr low in public private investments: WB

PTI India recorded a 10-year low in investments in public-private sector in the year 2015, adding to contraction that pulled down the global investment to below its five-year average of USD 124.1 billion, the World Bank has said. In its latest annual report, the World Bank said global investment in 2015 decreased to USD 111.6 billion, below the five-year average of USD 124.1 billion from 2010 to 2014. "This contraction resulted from lower investments in Brazil, China and India," the Bank said on Monday in its latest report on Private Participation in Infrastructure Database.
