India, Russia agree to develop e-certification systems to boost food trade

Russia to import carabeef from India

 The Dollar Business Bureau   Russia has allowed carabeef (buffalo meat) imports from India, following talks between phyto-sanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor and India’s Agricultural and Processed Foods Export Development Authority (APEDA) which falls under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India.  The move comes a few days ahead of Russian President Vladimir V. Russia to increase imports of vegetables, meat and dairy products from India soon

The Dollar Business Bureau | @TheDollarBiz Russia is expected to increase imports of fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products from India starting December 2014 under an agreement reached between Russia’s phytosanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor and India’s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) this week. According to official sources in Russia, Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, and Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Chairman, APEDA, have agreed to complete the quarantine and other certifications in two months, which will allow exports of Indian food products to Russia by December 2014. Russia rejects Indias rice consignment due to pest contamination

The Dollar Business Bureau | @TheDollarBiz   Russia’s phytosanitary watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, has rejected a rice consignment from India after it was found that the grains were contaminated with pests. Rosselkhoznadzor said, “The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast detected low quality and hazardous rice exported from India.” Tests revealed that the stored grains were contaminated with pests – 4 specimen per kg (meal worm-1 specimen per kg, locust leaf roller – 2 specimens per kg, ticks – 1 specimen per kg), it added. According to Russian officials, the contamination was detected in steam-treated (parboiled) rice consignment in July 2014 and the specified grain consignment is banned for import to the Russian Federation.
