Niti Aayog suggests labour reforms for high productivity

The Dollar Business Bureau According to Niti Aayog, the government's think-tank that replaced the planning commission, labour reforms are needed to induce productivity and create jobs in the market. The report on labour importantly suggests unifying 44 labour laws into four central ones. The reforms mooted by a panel headed by Arun Jaitley, the Finance Minister, offers an overview of development activities as part of a three-year draft action-agenda. The logic behind the labour-reforms stems from challenges relating to industrial relations, establishing commensurate wages, social-security and safety for labourers as well as adopting a global labour code. India-Japan social security agreement to come into force from Oct

The Dollar Business Bureau The Social Security Agreement (SSA) that has been signed between India and Japan in Tokyo on November 16, 2012 will come into force with effect from this October, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday. According to the Agreement the SSA between India and Japan will improve the profitability of both Indian and Japanese companies. This agreement would benefit many skilled workers from India and Japan working in either of the countries and also attract more Japanese firms to invest in India. Bilateral forum to discuss issues of Indias textile, agri, pharma exports to US

 The Dollar Business Bureau India has asked the United States to set up a separate working group to discuss non-tariff barriers faced by certain Indian textile products and issues of market access for pharmaceuticals and agricultural products in the US. Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia raised these issues during her meeting with US Deputy USTR Ambassador Robert Holleyman on Tuesday. The meeting was held in New Delhi to deliberate on the agenda setting, modalities and dates for convening the 9th round of the ministerial level meeting of the Trade Policy Forum (TPF) – a bilateral forum to enhance economic partnership between the two countries.
