MP govt inks Indias lowest-tariff solar power park

The Dollar Business Bureau The Madhya Pradesh state government formally signed strategic agreements to fuel India’s ambitions of cheaper solar tariff. A formal function at Delhi, presided by Piyush Goyal, Union power minister, Shivraj Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, saw signing of deals for the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park (RUMSP). RUMSP is a joint venture between the Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited, aimed at a 1,590 acre solar park in the Gurh tehsil of Rewa district. West Bengal govt plans small solar parks

PTI The West Bengal government has decided to create multiple small solar parks."We are planning for solar park totalling 500 MW, but doing it at a single site is not possible as we are unable to get large contiguous land," State Power Minister Shobhondeb Chatterjee said on the sidelines of an interactive session with the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce.About five acres of land was required for 1 MW of Solar power, the minister said."We will create multiple solar parks and capacity will depend on size of land, which is a more viable option," Chatterjee pointed out.He said the state government would continue to focus on renewable energy and would attend the Union Power Ministry-convened conference on renewables."I have received a letter ...

India to receive Rs 5,681 crores for solar parks

The Dollar Business Bureau  A pact was signed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) for providing Rs 5,681 crore. The fund will be provided to install and develop solar parks all over India, as a part of the clean energy drive. M Teresa Kho, Country Director, India Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Jonathan Addleton, Mission Director, USAID for India signed the agreement. The US Embassy in a press statement said that, “Through the agreement, USAID will align the technical resources of two of its programs to support ADB's investments in the development of solar parks and renewable energy transmission infrastructure in states at the forefront of India's efforts to promote clean energy." ...
