USAID announces 5 new partnerships in India

The Dollar Business Bureau The Indo-US cooperation is in a new phase, with US agency USAID announcing 5 new partnerships that would enhance the cooperation that US intends to help India in the field of renewable energy (RE). These 5 new partnerships are in the fields of climate change, clean energy, and environment. The transition is aimed to usher in a low-emission and energy-secure India. Of the 5 new partnerships announced by USAID, 4 are with governmental agencies. World Bank commits $1 bn for solar projects in India

PTI  Multi-lateral lender World Bank today announced funding support of USD 1 billion for expansion of solar power capacity in India. It also signed an agreement with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), consisting of 121 countries led by India, to collaborate on increasing solar energy use across the world, with a goal of mobilising USD 1 trillion in investments by 2030. The pact, which was signed in the presence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Power Minister Piyush Goyal and visiting World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, establishes the multilateral lending agency as the financial partner for ISA. India wont need to import coal by 2017: Coal Minister

Developed nations must come up with pre-2020 action plans on climate change

 The Dollar Business Bureau In view of the upcoming Paris Conference 2015on climate change, India urged the developed countries to announce their pre-2020 action plans saying, ‘It will be ironical that we formulate post-2020 architecture without finalizing pre-2020 action plan.’ A statement in this regard was made by Prakash Javadekar, Minister for State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, on Monday.
