Commerce Ministry unveils SEZ India mobile app

The Dollar Business Bureau Now people will be able to fetch detailed information about the country’s special economic zones with the help of the “SEZ India” app that has been launched by the Commerce Ministry. The app has been developed by the SEZ Division, Department of Commerce under its broader e-governance initiative called the SEZ online System. The app will pave way for developers and units to file all their transactions digitally through the system and track the status as well. “The app would help the SEZ units and developers to find information easily and track their transactions on SEZ Online System,” the ministry said in a statement. India, China to get SEZs in Sri Lanka to set up industries

The Dollar Business Bureau Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will be allotted to India and China for establishing industries in Sri Lanka, Malik Samarawickrama, Sri Lankan Minister of International Trade and Strategic Development said on Tuesday. “Indians will be setting up pharmaceutical and auto parts industries in their zone. The Chinese have asked for 55 sq km (15,000 acres) of land in the Hambantota area in the Southern Province for their zone, and we are in the process of acquiring the land. When developed, this area will generate one million jobs,” Samarawickrama told journalists in Colombo. The location for the SEZ to be allotted to India is still to be finalised. Govt has no records of exports data from Agri Export Zones

 Himanshu Vatsa | The Dollar Business The government has no records of exports and other details about 60 Agri Export Zones (AEZs) set up in various states. In order to promote India’s exports of processed agricultural products, AEZs were set up under several schemes of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). These facilities have been set up in 20 states covering more than 230 districts. The project covers 35 crops including fruits, vegetables, spices, cashew, tea, basmati rice, medicinal plants, and pulses.
