Indias Tea Board aims to double tea exports to Australia

The Dollar Business Bureau The Tea Board of India aims to double its tea exports volume to Australia in the next five years. “Indian tea exports to Australia now stand at 3 million kg. This could double in the next five years,” Executive Director of Tea Board C Paulrasu said, adding that Australia is looking only for specialty products such as green tea, flavoured teas, organic tea and value-added teas. Earlier, Paulrasu led a 15-member delegation of tea exporters to Australia. “Indian tea exporters are fully geared to cater to the international market,” Paulrasu said. Wagh Bakri looks to achieve 15% growth rate this fiscal

The Dollar Business Bureau  Tea firm Wagh Bakri looks to achieve 15% growth in its revenue to Rs.1,150 crore this financial year.  "Our turnover is Rs.1,000 crore and we are looking at least 15% growth this year," Wagh Bakri Tea Group Executive Director Parag Desai told PTI. Desai said the firm’s growth has been stagnant in the last two years due to lack of rainfall and downturn in economy. Wagh Bakri’s annual tea sales is about 40 million kgs, with tier II and tier III cities accounting for almost 90% of the company’s total tea sales. Mukherjee asks Darjeeling Tea industry to maintain quality

Tea exports increase over 13% during Jan-Mar 2016

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s tea exports have increased 13.2% in terms of value at Rs.982.39 crore during January- March 2016 when compared to Rs.867.86 crore in the same period previous year. In terms of quantity, the tea exports from the country have grown 6.2% at 54.29 million kg in the first three months of 2016 against 51.12 million kg in the corresponding period last year, as per the data provided by Tea Board of India under Union Ministry of Commerce. According to the data, there was 6.59% upsurge in the unit price realisation for tea exports at Rs.180.95 per kg during the three-month period against Rs.169.77 per kg in the same period previous year at all-India level. Railway restructuring should be linked to economic clusters

 The Dollar Business Bureau “Railways should prioritise linking economic clusters through high-speed passenger and freight network,” said CUTS (Consumer Unity & Trust Society) International as part of its comments on the Bibek Debroy Panel report on Restructuring Railways. The non-profit went on to add that, in fact, a detailed exercise of mapping current and future economic clusters must precede the efforts of railway liberalisation.
