US slaps $940 m fine on Tata in trade secret case

Source: PTI A US grand jury has slapped two companies of India's Tata group - Tata Consultancy Services and Tata America International Corp - with a $940 million fine in a trade secret lawsuit filed against them. After days of hearing, the federal grand jury in the US State of Wisconsin ruled that Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and Tata America International Corp must pay $240 million to Epic Systems for ripping off its software. Tatas have also been asked to pay another $700 million in punitive damages. TAPI gas pipeline to bridge energy gap between South, Central Asia

The Dollar Business Bureau    Work on the much awaited TAPI (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India) gas pipeline has begun with the leaders of all four countries committing to ensure technical and commercial viability of the project. The construction work of the 1,800-km pipeline will be carried out by Turkmenistan’s state-run company Turkmengaz. The project worth $7.6 billion will carry gas from Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field to Pakistan and India via Afghanistan. India, Australia to boost ties in education and research

Source: PIB, Government of India The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Australia on cooperation in the fields of education, training and research.  The costs of the cooperative activities under this MoU will be funded on mutually agreed terms and will be subject to availability of funds.  The MoU will help intensify existing partnerships between India and Australia in higher education & research, including technical and professional education, schools, vocational education and training and will open up new and innovative areas of cooperation.  The main objectives of this MoU, amongst other things, are:  i.
