Indian Telecom Market is expected to cross the Rs 6.6 trillion revenue mark by 2020, Manoj Sinha

While voice business still contributes a large chunk towards operator revenues, data revenues have shown an exponential growth trajectory over the last few years. AK Bhalla leaving DGFT, will be new Power Secretary

The Dollar Business Bureau  Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Director General of Foreign Trade will be leaving the charge of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on June 30.  Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre who earlier served as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, will be joining as the new Power Secretary. He will take over the new charge from Power Secretary P K Pujari, who is retiring on June 30.  “The new name for the post of DGFT has not yet been decided. Aditya Birla Group gets RBI nod to kick off payments bank

The Dollar Business Bureau Aditya Birla Group on Tuesday announced it has received the banking license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate its joint venture Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank Ltd. Kumar Mangalam Birla-led outfit Aditya Birla Nuvo had earlier set up a joint venture with the other telecom major Idea Cellular to start payments bank services in the country. Aditya Birla Nuvo and Idea Cellular will hold 51:49 shares in the joint venture payment bank. TRAI to resolve procedural bottlenecks in telecom business

The Dollar Business Bureau The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) underscored the need to identify some of that bottlenecks that are obstructing the functioning of telecom business growth in India and pointed out some growth-oriented steps including license acquisition, spectrum allotment and mergers to be reviewed to make the process simpler.
